Integrated vs Modular

Integrated vs Modular

Modular Training VS Integrated Training

There are two ways to train to become a commercial airline pilot. The first being integrated training. Integrated training is typically a full-time 18-month course and if successful, at the end you will gain a full, frozen Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). While the integrated route to a commercial airline career seems straightforward, it also comes with huge upfront costs of up to £90,000 and requires students to give up their current job and commit full-time. This is clearly not an option for the average individual desiring to become a pilot.

The alternative to this is modular training. Modular training breaks down the different elements of flight training into 3 separate stages. Your private pilot licence being stage one, following on by hour building and Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) theory training, culminating with gaining your commercial ratings. With this option you take each stage one at a time, at a pace that suits you and your lifestyle. Better yet, not only can you split those large costs and make monthly payments, your overall training costs by the time you finish could be under £70,000 meaning a saving of upwards of £20,000 as opposed to integrated training. Best of all, you’ll still gain the exact same full, frozen Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).

Modular training while being the clear preferred choice for most students can be quite tricky to navigate through and just like integrated training, sees large drop off rates. That’s where Pilot Path was born. We support students firstly by finding the right flying school, getting enrolled successfully, offering monthly and staggered payment options and most importantly offering comprehensive and unrivalled support right the way through your modular training journey from your trial lesson, all the way up to your commercial ratings.
